Penstocks for Eastmain-1 powerhouse
These concrete conduits measuring 8 m in diameter supply water to the Eastmain-1 hydroelectricplant. They were bored in the rock and reinforced with concrete using special removable formworks. Our technical experts designed a special mixture so the concrete could be pumped to a height of about 60 metres then laid in a complex environment, all while meeting quality standards. Each conduit required about 1 500 m3 of concrete, which was produced and delivered by our mobile plant.
